I love finding source material like this book. Packed with excellent information on subjects that interest me: Laundry, Dress-Making, Textiles and Millinery. This book is a How-To on "How It Was Done" by women and families in the early twentieth century. For anyone who is trying to recreate clothing from the teens, twenties, this book is a great starting point.

Interesting to see how many of the early traditions are still being followed today, and how many of the roles for women are entrenched in today's society. Interesting.

Martha Van Rensselaer, along with Flora Rose, were the first women to be granted a full professorships at Cornell University. READ MORE ABOUT HER LIFE HERE: http://rmc.library.cornell.edu/homeEc/bios/marthavanrensselaer.html
This book is a definitive guide to the home; from household measurements, textiles, family-home architecture, a guide to planning meals and budgeting, as well as planning home decor. It's quite fascinating.
